Founded in June of 2012, Coinbase Global, Inc is a publicly traded company that supports Coinbase Exchange, a US based crypto spot exchange for institutional investors. The company created Exchange as a distinct offering, separate from the Retail/Individual Coinbase.com. Coinbase Exchange is not available for Individuals.
Coinbase user scenarios
Members of your trading firm must have a Trader ID and have the following Coinbase account credentials to connect to a Coinbase and trade via the TT platform:
- API key
- API secret
- Passphrase
If you are a Risk or Operations Administrator, you can set up a member of your trading firm with a Trader ID in TT and use one of the following accounts:
- their own Coinbase account
- a shared Coinbase account (portfolio)
If you trade for yourself and have administrator permissions in Setup, you can create a Trader ID in TT to assign your Coinbase API credentials to your Coinbase account.
Coinbase Setup Overview
You must complete the following steps to set up a trading firm member to trade Coinbase.
- Create a Coinbase account and a wallet to fund the account (coinbase.com)
- Set up Coinbase API credentials (coinbase.com)
- Create a Coinbase connection
- Create a TT Coinbase account
- Create Coinbase Trader ID
- Configure user access to Coinbase
- Set up position risk limits for the account
- Set up credit limits for the account
- Set margin limits as needed
