The Watchlist widget provides you with the ability to manage and monitor market data for selected options and futures instruments, as well as monitor Greeks and theoretical values of user-defined options strategies before actually submitting them to the market. Instruments added to the Watchlist persist over exchange sessions, which provides you with the ability to act upon them at any time.
For options strategies that you create and send to the Watchlist and do not exist at the exchange, the widget calculates an implied spread price for your user-defined strategy based on the prices of the outright leg markets, and displays the implied spread price in the list. If the strategy you create is already available at the exchange, the Watchlist displays the actual market for the strategy.

Using the Watchlist to monitor and trade instruments and strategies, you can:
The Watchlist retains saved strategies even though they have been "purged" (i.e., made inactive but still can be traded) at the exchange. For example, CME purges custom strategies each weekend and covered strategies each evening. At Euronext and Eurex, strategies are purged each evening. If a working order exists in a particular strategy, the exchange will not purge it.
When a workspace is opened or refreshed, the Watchlist attempts to recreate saved strategies that have been purged. While the recreation is in progress, the purged strategy appears in italics and a notification message is displayed. After it is recreated successfully, the strategy displays as normal. Strategies that fail recreation remain in italics highlighted in a background color that can be customized in the "Colors" section of Watchlist settings.
Note: Watchlist will remove "expired" strategies, e.g., those that have at least one expired leg and can no longer be recreated or traded.
