Give-Ups

Give-ups are used to send trades to other members.

Once a trade has been given up:

  • The receiving member can either accept the give-up or reject it (provided the exchange API allows rejection).
  • The sending member can cancel the give-up provided that the receiving member hasn't accepted it yet.

Give-Up a Trade

Giving-up a trade works in exactly the same way as allocating a trade to an account. The only difference is that the trades are allocated to a give-up account.

Follow these steps to give-up a trade to another member:

  1. Select the trade you want to Give-up.
  2. Right-click on the selected trade and click on [ Orders]>[ Add].
  3. The add order window opens.
  4. Select the Give-up account*.
  5. Once selected:

    • The Give-up member is filled. If not, the selected account is not a give-up account.
    • The other fields (except the Comment one) are also filled using the settings of the account. You can update them if needed.
  6. Click on the [Add Order] button.
  7. A clearing request is sent, and the status of the trade is changed to “Give-Up Pending”.

If the give-up member accepts the trade, its status will be updated to “Cleared”. Otherwise, the give-up member rejects the trade and its status will be updated to “Give-Up rejected”.

The fields followed by * are mandatory hence cannot be left without values.

Note The Give-In member field columns for HKFE give-ups are usually populated to prevent duplicate Give-ins.

Edit a Give-Up

Give-ups can be edited as long as they have not been accepted by their give-up member (trades with “Give-Up Pending” status).

Editing a give-up is exactly the same as editing an order

If the give-up account was changed, the current give-up is cancelled, and a new clearing request is sent.

If the new allocation account is:

  • A Give-up account, the status of the trade is changed to “Give-Up Pending”
  • A regular account, the status is changed to “Clearing in Progress”.

Cancel a Give-Up

Give-ups can be cancelled as long as they have not been accepted by their give-up member (trades with “Give-Up Pending” status) except for LME UNA trades. On LME you can delete an order that is in “Cleared” status without raising an error if the give-up member is “UNA”.

Give-up cancellation requests are also sent automatically when orders in “Give-up pending” status are deleted.

Follow these steps to cancel a Give-up:

  1. Select the order or trade with a “Give-Up Pending” status that you want to cancel.

  2. Right click and select the menu [ Give-In/Up]>[ Cancel Give-Up].
  3. The Cancel Give Up window opens.

  4. You can choose to enter the reason of the cancellation.
  5. Click on the [Ok] button. A cancel request is sent to the market and the status of the trade is changed to “Give-Up Cancel Requested”. Once the cancellation is done, the status of the trade will be updated to “Uncleared”.

Give-Up Rejected

The receiving member of a give-up can choose to reject the trade instead of accepting it. In this case, the status of the trade given-up will be updated from “Give-Up Pending” to “Give-Up Rejected”.
