Working with staged orders

To use staged orders TT provides the following functions:

Claiming a staged order

Users with order permissions to manage stage orders in a shared account can claim a staged order using their Order Book. After claiming the order, the user is considered the "owner" of the staged order in the TT system.

The owner of the staged order can enter child orders related to the parent staged order. Child orders are sent to the exchange based on the total quantity, price and position of the parent order, and can be submitted in the same account or different accounts.

Note: Ensure that the Order Book toolbar buttons Claim and Unclaim are shown. To show/hide these buttons, right-click the toolbar, select Settings, and click Order Toolbar Buttons. Scroll through the list that appears, check Claim and Unclaim, and click Ok.

To claim a staged order:

  1. Open the Order Book widget.
  2. Click the staged order row to select it.

Note: Staged orders are displayed with a status of Available in the Status column. Make sure you are showing this column in the Order Book settings. Also, the order row checkbox is checked after selecting the staged order.

  3. Click the Claim button in the toolbar.

When you claim the order, your alias appears in the CurrentUser column, indicating you are the owner of the staged order. The Unclaim button is active and the Claim button is now grayed out. The Buy or Sell direction cell in the B/S column is also highlighted indicating that the owner can now click B (Buy) or S (Sell) to enter a child order.

  4. Click the question mark button in the toolbar to open the Order Details screen and view any special order instructions in the StageMsg field.

Unclaiming a staged order

If you own a staged order with a Status of Owned, Working, or Partially Filled, you can relinquish ownership of the order using the Unclaim button on the toolbar.

To unclaim a staged order:

  1. Open the Order Book widget.
  2. Click the staged order row to select it.

Note: Claimed staged orders are displayed with a status of Owned in the Status column. Make sure you are showing this column in the Order Book settings. Also, the order row checkbox is checked after selecting the staged order.

  3. Click Unclaim in the toolbar.

When you unclaim the order, your user name remains in the CurrentUser column until another user claims the staged order. The Claim button is active and the Unclaim button is now grayed out.

Canceling a staged order

The owner can cancel the staged order before submitting any child orders. If the originator cancels the staged order after it is claimed by the owner, then the owner must approve the cancel request. Both the originator and the owner will see Pending Cancel Approval in the Status column of their Order Books, indicating that there is a staged order cancel request pending approval by the owner.

To cancel a staged order:

  1. Select a staged order in the Order Book.
  2. Click the Cancel button in the tool bar.

The staged order Status changes to Pending Cancel Approval.

Accepting or rejecting a staged order cancel request

If you are currently the owner of a staged order and you receive a cancel request from the originator, the order remains in the Pending Cancel Request state until you approve or reject the request. No child orders can be entered for the parent staged order in this state.

To accept or reject a cancel request:

  1. Right-click the staged order with Status of Pending Cancel Approval flashing in the Order Book.
  2. Click Pending Cancel Request(s) in the context menu and click Accept or Reject.

When you click Accept, the staged parent and child orders are canceled. When you click Reject, the staged order status from the Order Book will return to Working.
