To identify the contract you want to trade and access market data, you need an Instrument block.
Note: As you build the algo, you will see messages in the Problems tab. You don't need to be concerned about them, as they will correct themselves automatically as you complete the algo.
To add the block for the desired instrument:
If you have not already done so, open ADL.
From the Blocks panel, click and drag the Instrument block onto the ADL canvas.
The Block Properties panel allows you to view and edit the properties of the selected block. Once you place the Instrument block, its properties will dispay in the Block Properties panel
In the Block Properties panel, specify the following properties.
In the Instrument field, specify the instrument for the algo. In this case, you want to use the CME ZB Dec17 contract.
Select the Account to use for the selected instrument.
Optionally, enter "ZB Dec17" for the Name to make it easier to identify the block.
You can now see the selected Instrument displayed next to the blue instrument output port and the Name "ZB Dec17" displayed under our Instrument block.
You have now completed adding an instrument to your algo. The next step is to define the entry order for your algo.
